Prevention, cleaning and tuning of a healthy turbo - is it necessary?

You can find more information in our Turbo Expert sub-section: https://turboexpert.bg/page/uslugi/proverka-i-profilaktika/bg and find what you are looking for!

The turbocharger is inherently a fairly healthy component. Due to bad fuels and improper combustion or improper operation, such as irregular maintenance and bad oils and filters, its operation can be disrupted without it itself being damaged. Almost 100% of all modern diesel cars have the so-called "Variable Geometry Turbo" which regulates and directs the flow of gases. Unfortunately, variable geometry is very susceptible to blocking, which leads to danger for the turbocharger and deterioration of engine performance. Due to bad fuels, improper operation of the car or too calm driving, it blocks and the turbo cannot work correctly. In this situation, the turbo is completely healthy, but it does not work within its set parameters, because of the blocked variable geometry. The only solution in this case is cleaning the geometry or in other words, turbocharger maintenance. With quality and timely maintenance, you will save unnecessary costs and extend the life of the turbo. There are many proposals for cleaning turbochargers and maintenance, but unfortunately in many places things are only skipped or are done half-heartedly due to the lack of Turbo Stands.

Geneti Motorsport offers quality and professional maintenance, which is described in the following stages of work:

1. Preliminary diagnostics of the car, proving the need for turbo maintenance, as we have dealer-level diagnostics that guarantees us the correct diagnosis of the problem.

2. Careful disassembly of the turbo, turbo paths, collectors and EGR, because we check everything!

3. Disassembly of the turbocharger, the turbo snails are separated from the central body, the actuator is dismantled. The variable geometry is disassembled into component parts.

4. The rough parts (snails), collectors, pipes are washed from oil, soot, etc. in an ultrasonic bath that we have at our disposal.

5. Next is a fine cleaning in our sandblaster and Vapor Blast, using abrasives that do not damage the aluminum parts!

6. Next is an inspection of all cleaned parts. If there are no impacts, injuries, overheating or mechanical damage, everything is prepared for reassembly.

7. Before everything is fully assembled, we test the central body of our VSR Turbostand which has a range of 300,000 revolutions which guarantees that we can test the turbo in optimal operating conditions. This way we check whether the turbo is still correctly balanced and whether there is no oil leak. If necessary, the balance is calibrated again.

8. After successfully completed tests, we assemble everything in the starting position.

9. A test is performed for the correct operation of the actuator (pneumatic or electronic) and a check of all turbo parameters, using our Flow Bench – G3 or Synthesis Flow Bench, world leaders, which guarantees a 100% successful completion. If necessary or deviations occur, we adjust the turbocharger to factory specifications so that the vehicle can run without anomalies, jamming and lack of power.
